Naoki Yoshimoto invented this three-dimensional dissection puzzle in 1971 while he was studying the different ways a cube can be halved. His discovery that two stellated rhombic dodecahedra could combine into a perfect cube led to a hinged puzzle toy that can be manipulated into nearly-in-numerable patterns. The Yoshimoto Cube is so fascinating that it was added to the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in 1982!
